1. Introduction
GroundJerusalem.com (“GroundJerusalem”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to respecting your privacy and protecting your personal data. This Privacy & Cookie Policy (“Policy”) explains what information we collect, how we use it, on what legal bases we process it, with whom we share it, and the choices and rights you have.
2. Scope
This Policy applies to your use of our website, store, and customer support channels. It is designed to align with applicable laws, including the EU/UK GDPR, the California CCPA/CPRA, and the Israeli Protection of Privacy Law. We also anticipate forthcoming frameworks (e.g., the ePrivacy Regulation and the EU Digital Services Act) and will adjust our practices as required.
3. Categories of Data We Collect
- Identity & Contact Data: name, email, phone number, billing and shipping addresses.
- Order & Transaction Data: items purchased, order history, totals, currency, partial payment metadata (we do not store full card numbers; payments are processed by PayPal).
- Technical & Usage Data: IP address, device and browser details, time zone, pages viewed, referring/exit pages, session IDs, interaction data gathered via cookies or similar technologies.
- Communications: messages you send us (e.g., email, forms, WhatsApp), support history, and any content you upload (e.g., reviews).
- Preferences: marketing preferences, language/currency, saved carts or wishlists.
- Sensitive Data: generally not collected. If you voluntarily share health-related information (e.g., allergies) to guide a purchase, we use it only to fulfill your request.
4. Purposes of Processing
- Orders & Fulfillment: process payments, ship orders, handle returns/refunds, and provide customer support.
- Account Management: maintain your account, order history, preferences, and authentication.
- Service Improvement & Analytics: analyze site performance and usage (aggregated where possible) to enhance UX and product selection.
- Communications: send order confirmations, shipping updates, service notices, and respond to inquiries.
- Security & Fraud Prevention: protect our services, detect misuse, and ensure integrity of transactions.
- Legal & Compliance: meet tax/accounting duties, handle regulatory obligations, and respond to lawful requests.
- Marketing (opt-in as required): send promotional content if you consent; you can opt out at any time.
5. Legal Bases for Processing
- Contractual necessity: to fulfill orders and provide requested services.
- Consent: for marketing emails and non-essential cookies/trackers where required.
- Legal obligation: tax, accounting, consumer protection, and regulatory duties.
- Legitimate interests: site security, service improvement, single abandoned-cart reminder (transactional-only), and fraud prevention—balanced against your rights.
6. Abandoned Cart Reminder
If you add items to your cart and enter your email at checkout but do not complete your purchase, we may send one (1) transactional reminder to help you finalize the order. This message:
- contains no promotional content (no coupons or ads);
- is sent under our legitimate interest in assisting with incomplete transactions;
- includes a clear unsubscribe option; and
- is delivered via our cart recovery feature and our email infrastructure (e.g., Mailchimp or SMTP).
What we collect for this feature: your email (if entered), items in cart, and time of last activity—solely to send the single reminder and maintain your cart state. If you do not provide an email, only non-identifying cart/session data is used to restore your cart (via cookies).
